Scotia Glenville Band Day

Today I'm doing my monthly "Scotia Band Day," with the Scotia Glenville Pipe Band.
The band is run by Piper Maureen Conner and Drummer Eric MacNeill (with a little help from me!)

In 2007, SGPB was 3rd in the Novice Juvenile Grade at the World Championships. Here is a You Tube Video of their performance:

This year, they are headed back to compete in the Juvenile Grade (the next grade up). To get a taste of the quality of that grade, here are last year's winners, the Inverary and District Pipe Band:

We've got a lot of work to do!

Coincidentally, Inverary has moved to Grade two for 2009, and will be Oran Mor's competition at the Worlds this year!

The Piper's DoJo on AllOverAlbany.com

Here is a link to an interview I did with Mary Darcy from AllOverAlbany.com about the Piper's DoJo, the piping school we (Donald Lindsay and I) run in Albany, NY.

It explains how the school works, and why it is such a successful learning format.

Oran Mor Queen Mary Recap

Oran Mor
just finished our second day of competition with the LA Scots Pipe Band, at the Queen Mary games in Long Beach, California. It was great to meet everyone out there. The Scots were great hosts - everyone had a blast to say the least!

The trip was awesome. Stephanie and I stayed an entire week, to have a vacation in the L.A. area.

[right - Steph and I in front of the Queen Mary ship. Clearly, the sun is shining brighter than Upstate New Yorkers are used to at this time of year...]

On day 1, we were second to the Scots in the medley. Here are the two youtube videos from Saturday.

On day 2, we won the MSR on ensemble preference! Here are those youtubes.
